ANCIENT BAGGAGE: A PERFORMANCE BY RACHEL LIBESKIND
MCCARREN HOTEL & pool, BROOKLYN, 2015
Ancient Baggage is a roof-top performance piece presented by artist Rachel Libeskind in collaboration with experimental musicians, the Swaai boys, an event curated by Lolita Cros and co-produced by Nadine Johnson, Inc.
Please join us for a unique experience during Frieze New York at McCarren’s Sheltering Sky, Thursday, May 14th. Doors Open at 6PM, reoccurring performances begin at 8PM.
First performed at the Festival di Spoleto in 2014 and reenacted at the Hotel Chelsea in 2015, The Traveling Bag is a performance work that deals with the rituals imposed by the suitcase: opening, closing, choosing, finding, packing, unpacking, burial, and resurrection.
These artists are coming together to present a hybrid-narrative about a suitcase that merges myth and reality, ritual with object, and proposes a new kind of story through the unveiling of these artifacts, integrated with original, experimental music.
